Choosing your first betta

Bettas are one of the best first fish — if you give them warm water and a filtered tank of at least 20 litres.
Fin types
- Halfmoon: a 180° tail spread; spectacular but heavy fins.
- Plakat: short fins, very active and robust.
- Crowntail: spiky rays with reduced webbing.
Keep males on their own. Peaceful snails and small bottom dwellers can work in larger tanks.
